My name is Bridget Madden. I live in Boston and work in the MetroWest area. I have eleven years of library work experience at both college and high school libraries. (For fun, and because it's what started my interest in the library field, I'm including my work-study years in that figure). I have worked at a community college library since 2008, first as the night and weekend Library Assistant and now as the Staff Assistant to the Director of Learning Services. In addition to working at the circulation desk and supporting the rest of the library staff in various ways, I also manage the course evaluation process at the college. I have also been a library assistant at the high school level. Additionally, I've worked in education as a special education ed tech, an assistant 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, a drama director, an elementary poetry teacher, and as a high school English teacher. My advanced degree is an MFA in Creative Writing and I am a writer as well as librar(ian*). I do plan to pursue another master's degree in the field of library science, but my ultimate goal is to work as a Circulation Supervisor for a big, thriving, wonderful library. My favorite part of my job is making the library a place that the patrons love!
(*ian - fine, I'll put the asterisk there, since to those with an advanced library degree is seems rather a point of contention to call oneself as such without it, but for the sake of the lay person, I'm keeping the word there)
